MADISON, Wis. — Today, Americans for Prosperity Wisconsin, the state’s foremost advocate for economic freedom, reacted with disappointment to the President’s new “Clean Power Plan” rule, finalized today, which would drive up costs for consumers across the economy.

State Director Eric Bott released the following statement:

“Wisconsin doesn’t need more regulation from Washington — especially not ones that will send our electric bills skyrocketing, cost thousands of jobs, and raise costs for consumers all across our state. Wisconsin has seen tremendous improvement in its economy because we’ve pushed for less regulation, not more.

This new plan would essentially amount to a federal takeover of Wisconsin’s powergrid and we can’t afford it. AFP commends the continuing efforts of Governor Scott Walker and Attorney General Brad Schimel to protect Wisconsinites from this power grab and encourages them to keep up their work on this important issue.”

Americans for Prosperity (AFP) is a nationwide organization of citizen-leaders committed to advancing every individual’s right to economic freedom and opportunity. AFP believes reducing the size and intrusiveness of government is the best way to promote individual productivity and prosperity for all Americans.
