Active Shooter Training at Emergency Services Expo Jan 27
During this hands-on, scenario-based simulation, 125 participants will learn how to respond to these incidents through actual experience.
MILWAUKEE— (January 22, 2016) – Emergency responders from across Wisconsin and Northern Illinois will face an active shooter situation on Wednesday, January 27, 2016, during the first day of sessions at the 30th Working Together Conference & Exposition held by Wisconsin EMS Association (WEMSA). First Responders, EMTs, firefighters and other emergency responders are being called to situations involving an active assailant with alarming frequency. During this hands-on, scenario-based simulation, 125 participants will learn how to respond to these incidents through actual experience.
The “Rescue Task Force” session will take place 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. inside a specially marked area of the Wisconsin Center. Students will use simulated weapons and will manage patients that are moulaged with realistic looking wounds and injuries. This simulation allows the participants to prepare for actual events.
Also on Wednesday, a morning session on “Mastery of Moulage” will train participants in creating, storing and reusing three-dimensional wounds that can be triaged and sutured for use in training scenarios.
These sessions and others are not open to the general public, but will accommodate members of the media, including the ability to photograph and video segments of the training. Interviews with experts conducting the training as well as participants will be made available.
WEMSA’s 30th annual Working Together Conference will host nearly 2,500 participants over six total days, with 70 sessions presented along with more than 140 companies exhibiting in the expo hall.
