The Marcus Center for the Performing Arts is hosting its 5th annual Flag Day Celebration on Friday, June 13, which is sponsored by the Marcus Center and Environmental Systems, Inc.  Festivities are at the Marcus Center’s Peck Pavilion from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The theme is Honoring the Dead by Serving the Living and this event is free and open to the public.

The event will kick off with a Presentation of Colors given by the Milwaukee Metro Non-Commissioned Officers Council and will proceed with the National Anthem performed by Esh Studivant, 2010 American Idol Contestant followed by an invocation by Chaplain Rev. Ray Stubbe, USMC.

A moment of silence and POW respect by Ms. Janine Sijan Rozina is part of the program along with Mr. John Malan, Vietnam Veteran and Meteorologist, as the Master of Ceremonies. Dick Hecht, Vice President and COO of the Marcus Center, will welcome guests and special guest speakers Sgt. Anthony Anderson, OIS and Spc. Tom Voss, OIS.

Our keynote speaker for the program is Mr. Dan Buttery CPT (USAR Retired) and he is the President of the Fisher House Board. The Leahy’s Luck will conclude the program offering live entertainment.

“We feel privileged to be able to host this annual Flag Day Celebration,” said Paul Mathews, Marcus Center President & CEO, noting that since it opened in 1969, the Marcus Center has been designated an official Milwaukee County War Memorial.  “We hope many in the community will come and join us to honor our veterans for their service to our country.”
