20 nonprofits to benefit from 24-hour online giving event

Each donation of $10 or more made on Thursday, March 19, will be matched; last year, more than $3 million was raised this way

Members of the community will come together again on Thursday, March 19, to raise funds for 20 nonprofits participating in the Greater Milwaukee Foundation’s fourth Match Day, a 24-hour online giving event.

Match Day provides a pool of funds to match online contributions of $10 or more,  proportionately based on the total amount raised by each organization during the event.

Last year, more than $3 million was raised through the event.To make a donation or learn more, visit http://MatchDayMKE.org.

This year’s record-breaking match pool of more than $830,000 was contributed by donors and board members of the Greater Milwaukee Foundation as well as the Brewers Community Foundation, The Ceres Foundation, Meijer, United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County and Faye McBeath Foundation.

“Because of generous matching donations, every donation made on Match Day will have an even greater impact in our community,” said Ellen M. Gilligan, President and CEO of the Greater Milwaukee Foundation. “Thank you to all of our funders and sponsors for supporting this year’s match pool.”

The event benefits participating agencies in southeast Wisconsin that are helping to meet individuals’ basic food and shelter needs. They include:
