The preparation of the Downtown Plan Update has involved various public input sessions, countless hours of community and stakeholder input, resident surveys, the involvement of the business community, and the work of city staff. The process is still ongoing and the presentation before the City Plan Commission for approval was the next step in the process.



Beerline B Apartments Riverwalk Proposed

The riverwalk segment for the proposed Beerline B Apartments will go before the Milwaukee City Plan Commission on August 23rd. General Capital Group is bringing the riverwalk segment forward for approval before the entire project. The 140-unit project, which recently was awarded $2,345,310 in WHEDA tax credits for 119 low-income units, will occupy the corner of Commerce St and Pleasant St.



New East Side Apartment Proposal

At Monday’s City Plan Commission meeting, Wangard Parnters Inc. will be requesting an amendment to the Detailed Planned Development known as HighBridge Condominiums, with the intent of moving the project forward, now redesigned as apartments and renamed as Metro Place.



New Land Enterprises’ Bookends Project To Go Before City Plan Commission (Renderings)

The Bookends, proposed by New Land Enterprises, will go before the Milwaukee City Plan Commission on October 19th, 2009 to gain approval of a change in zoning to a detailed plan development. The project, which would be located at E. Kilbourn Avenue and N. Van Buren Street, consists of a 19-story mixed used apartment building with up to 224 dwelling units, a retail component, and five stories of structured parking



Villard Square Receives Strong Support From City Plan Commission

Gorman & Company has been working with the Northwest Side Community Development Corporation to construct a mixed-use development on the 3400 block of W. Villard Ave. The four-story, 47-unit building will also include 12,000 square feet of space to house the Villard Avenue Library. The file before the City Plan Commission on Monday was an amendment to a previously approved Detailed Planned Development which specified the zoning and design of the proposed building.



Rivianna Proposal Takes A Step Forward

The developer, Rivianna LLC, was seeking three approvals for the $80 million Rivianna development proposal at Monday’s City Plan Commission meeting. The building would contain a maximum of 236 hotel rooms and 186 apartments, and 430 parking spaces, of which 276 parking spaces will be reserved for the residential component.

Rivianna, proposed by Developer Bob Schultz, will go before the Milwaukee City Plan Commission on July 13th, 2009. Schultz is attempting to gain approval of his detailed plan development as well as an amendment to general planned development and riverwalk design approval. If approved, the development will go before the Zoning, Neighborhoods & Development Committee, and then onto the full Common Council.
