We are calling on volunteers for our 2010 15th Annual Spring River Cleanup. It takes place Saturday, April 17 from 9am-Noon at 40+ parks and river-WestBend10parkways throughout the Greater Milwaukee area. HOW DOES IT WORK? We provide all the garbage bags and gloves, we just need you to help pick up trash & debris. After you’re done pulling shopping carts from the river come over for food, drink, and merriment at the Milwaukee Riverkeeper Clean upTrash Bash at Gordon Park from 12:30pm-3:00pm. The City Plan Commission (CPC) is the City’s official planning body established under State statute and is responsible for master planning activities. The CPC advises the Common Council on a variety of land development issues including zoning map changes, revisions in the zoning ordinance, subdivision approvals, business improvement districts, street and alley vacations, public land disposition and acquisition, new streets and the approval of development plans in certain overlay districts. Gallery Night and Day is the premier art event in Milwaukee for both the experienced art connoisseur and most beginning admirer. An evening of gallery hopping and art viewing begins Friday, April 16 and continues during the day on Saturday, April 17. This April, the quarterly event showcases 66 venues throughout the downtown Milwaukee area. Léon Krier, born in Luxembourg, is an architect, architectural theorist, and urban planner. From the late 1970s onwards, Krier has been one of the most influential neo-traditional architects and planners. He is best known for his development of Poundbury village in Dorchester, UK for the Prince of Wales. In campaigning for the reconstruction of the traditional “European” city model, he has had a great influence on the New Urbanism movement, especially in the United States. Milwaukee Riverkeeper is co-sponsoring a special town hall forum on Clean Energy. Come join us on Thursday, March 11 at 6 p.m. where a panel of experts will discuss how the Clean Energy Jobs bill will benefit the Greater Milwaukee area with green jobs, lower energy bills and a cleaner, healthier environment. Plus, talk with local installers about rebates and incentives to improve energy efficiency or install renewable energy at your home or business. Speakers will include Dan Kohler, director of Wisconsin Environment; Steve Ostrenga, CEO of Helios USA; Dave Boetcher, IBEW Government Affairs Coordinator; and Sen. Jim Sullivan (5th district).
