The Diplomat, located at 815 E. Brady St., applied for a Class B Tavern & Food Dealer license in preparation for its opening later this summer. The space was previously occupied by Bosley on Brady. According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s Carol Deptolla, The Diplomat will be owned and operated by Joshua Jeffers and Dane Baldwin, who was previously the head chef at Mr. B’s Steakhouse.

Deptolla offered details on the menu:

Baldwin is starting to formulate the menu, which will include vegetarian dishes among the meats and fish.

Renovations to The Diplomat include lighting, new paint and new flooring. The Diplomat aims to open in July.

New Cermak Opens in Walker’s Point

Cermak Fresh Market opened Wednesday morning in Freshwater Plaza on the corner of S. 1st St. and E. Greenfield Ave. in Walker’s Point. Owner Michael Bousis was thrilled to see the doors open.

“It was challenging to get this deal done and to do what we did but with the help of everybody we did it and put a store in a neighborhood that was needed,” said Bousis.

The opening of the area’s first full-line supermarket was highly anticipated by area residents, many of whom attended the grand opening and hadn’t previously had access to a full supermarket.

During the grand opening, 12th District Ald. Jose G. Perez welcomed Cermak to the neighborhood.

“I especially would like to thank Mike Bousis and the Cermak family. For one, the investment in our community, the vision that he had, and understanding that for years this community had been underserved and is a food desert,” said Perez.

He went on to say the residents of the area had been waiting a long time for development in Walker’s Point.

The new location is the second Cermak in Wisconsin. The first location is in West Milwaukee at 1541 Miller Park Way.

New Bay View Restaurant

New restaurant and lounge, BV 3001, is moving into the former site of Pastiche in Bay View.

According to the Journal Sentinel’s Deptolla, Troy Schoenrock has plenty of experiencing owning and operating successful restaurants, having operated Lakeside Restaurant & Club and Heaven City, both in Mukwonago, as well as Something Italian on W. Forest Home Ave.

Deptolla offered details on the menu:

“We just want to have a neighborhood restaurant that’s a little bit upscale,” Schoenrock said, adding that the menu would be similar to that at Lakeside – steaks, ribs, chops and some Italian fare, including pastas and thin-crust pizzas.

“It’s going to be simple, he said, and he wants to keep prices in a moderate so “that everybody in the whole neighborhood can enjoy.”

BV 3001 will be located at 3001 S. Kinnickinnic Ave., and is expected to open in August.

Wiener Wednesday
