As summer begins to wrap up and the weather reminds us that festival season is coming to a close, this weekend attempted to provide one more jolt of festival fun. There was the East Side Tomato Romp, the Bay View Bash, and Global Union all going strong despite the fall-like weather.

On Saturday the volunteer run Bay View Bash closed down Kinnickinnic Ave. to automobile traffic and opened it up for a “Festival of Food, Art, Music, Crafts, Books, and Community Organizations.”

A wide variety of venders and organizations filled the booths that made up the festival lineup. They ranged from Hamburger Mary’s to Bitcoin Milwaukee. If you’re never heard of Bitcoin, aka “The People’s Currency,” it is, according to Wikipedia, a “software-based online payment system,” that rumor has it is now accepted in Milwaukee at the Hotel of the Arts and the bar Bad Genie in East Town.

Our photos capture some of the real world fun of the bash.
