2014 Center Street Daze

Actually it's a one-day fest, but with enough craziness to leave you a bit dazed.

There’s no doubt Milwaukeeans enjoy a good street festival, so much so that on any summer weekend the challenge is picking which neighborhood to visit. This weekend, Riverwest appropriately held Center Street Daze. As the festival is only one day, which can be confusing, it apparently refers to a different sort of daze. In pure Riverwest style the festival opens with a good old-fashioned, cobbled-together cart race. Cart race?

It’s the sort of race that consists of pretty much anything on wheels that allows for a driver and someone to push. A  large red wagon, a “jet” powered racing cart, an injured lady holding on for dear life on what appeared to be a dolly, a dj booth, and a hot tub on wheels made up the field.

The festival also included live music, djs, a break dance floor, local venders, and three competitions: The Eddie Favorite 8-Ball Tournament, a Dodgeball Tournament, and a Pinball Tournament.

Our photos capture the haze of Center Street Daze.
