This week is the 9th annual Downtown Employee Appreciation Week. So start feeling appreciated. And check our list of the events.

Sure, you’ve been to Summerfest and Bastille Days. But have you ever been to Downtown Employee Appreciation Week? Well, this week is your chance, and by the way, it’s also the 9th annual edition of the salute to all those hardworking Downtown employees. The celebration begins today and runs through Friday, August 1.

Launched in 2006 as a business retention and recruitment initiative, Downtown Employee Appreciation Week has steadily evolved to include fun-filled activities such as beach volleyball, live music, 1000 item giveaways, and chance to win tickets to State Fair. DEAW 2014 offers a new event: a solidarity walk for victims of cancer with Mayor Tom Barrett.

Beyond the list of of events, though, Downtown Employee Appreciation Week is a celebration of the many folks who work Downtown and a great way to meet new people and fellow workers, while having fun and supporting charitable organizations such as Feeding America and the American Cancer Society. The kickoff this morning was at Red Arrow Park, offering “Pancakes and Praise.” Here is the rest of the schedule:

World’s Largest Coffee Break – Free java, treats, and music

Nite Cap & Ayre in the Square – Live Music by All the Good Things and free local beer samples.
