Please note that there is a nonprofit rock climbing gym in downtown Milwaukee, located in the basement of the historical Turner Hall. It is a beautiful facility that has been updated tremendously in the past year. If you are looking for a place to climb in downtown Milwaukee before the Adventure Rock is complete, stop in to Turners! Robert Monnat is not correct in saying “Adventure Rock has been the only complete climbing gymnasium in Milwaukee for several years.” Adventure Rock is not in the city of Milwaukee, and Turners IS a complete climbing gymnasium.

I am excited about Adventure Rock’s addition to the climbing community in Milwaukee. In addition to Claire’s notes above, I would like to add to correction of the article, which fails to mention a complete and full service climbing gymnasium that is already located in Milwaukee. Milwaukee Turners Climbing Gym is the oldest and longest established climbing gym in Milwaukee and the state, and is the only gym that is not-for-profit. The focus is on the teaching of climbing and the encouragement of its patrons to take their skills outdoors. It has both a very knowledgeable and friendly staff as well as friendly and encouraging members. Turners is a great rock climber’s gym and holds its roots in its old school charm.
I encourage those who are interested to visit either on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Turners-Climbing-Gym/179508442187973), website (http://www.milwaukeeturners.org/sound-body/rock-climbing) and at the facility in the lower level of The Historic Milwaukee Turners Building (1034 N 4th St, across from the BMO Harris Bradley Center).
