Yesterday, Bay View celebrated the opening of an off-leash dog exercise area with a “leash-cutting” ceremony. The new park, located at E. Lincoln Ave. and South Bay St., was a combined effort of the City of Milwaukee and Milwaukee County. An assortment of dogs, local residents, businesses, and leaders were in attendance all of which appeared to be having a dog gone good time.

The driving force behind the project, Ald. Tony Zielinski, explained in a press release that, “There has been a real need for a dog park in the Bay View neighborhood, and one day when I passed this lot, I thought that this would be an ideal location. As an off-leash dog park, this property will become a true asset to the neighborhood and surrounding community.”

In a press release celebrating the opening, Milwaukee County Board Chairwoman Marina Dimitrijevic said, “I’m proud to have been involved in this project. The Bay View DEA is good for dogs and dog owners, and it’s good for the neighborhood.”
