Celtic Woman

David Downes is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin, a veteran performer and the former musical director of Riverdance. In 2004, working with Sharon Browne, he rounded up five Irish female musicians who had no experience performing together. They shaped themselves to what is now known as Celtic Woman and soon became a huge hit.

The group has gone on many world tours, and has sold over 6 million records worldwide. Celtic Woman channels outside influences such as Enya, Moya Brennan and Clannad, and stage shows like Riverdance and Lord of the Dance. The group has been described as a“Riverdance for the voice.” They perform in beautiful costumes, with Irish dancing and a fiddler, offering renditions of “Ave Maria,” “Amazing Grace,” “Danny Boy,” and other traditional songs. Celtic Woman received 4.8/5 stars on Ticket Master’s website from listeners.

The group perform this week at the Riverside Theater as part of their Emerald tour. The performers you can expect to see are Máiréad Carlin, Lisa Kelly, Susan McFadden and Máiréad Nesbitt.

Doors open for the show at the Riverside Theatre at 6:30pm. Tickets range from $30-53, and are available here or by calling (414) 286-3663.
