My husband and I are certainly planning to visit this fabulous place in 2016!

When I was in College in the early 80’s I worked for a Contractor who renovated this House well mostly Clean it, Whoever was living there obviously could not afford the upkeep such a home requires,

Basement was amazing Billard Room , theatre and this one just MASSIVE room which I though should have had a pool in it.

But the strangest thing was the Master Bedroom the Doors which there were TWO were about 6 inches thick and Solid and there was what looked like the first alarm system ever made. I asked about this and was told Mrs. Vogal got a bit paranoid in her old age but who could blame her living in that Home alone ?

If you do get a chance to visit when you walk in the front door there is a Hidden Panel on the Wall right under the Stairway that leads to the Kitchen it may lead to the Old dining room also I can’t recall.

Just a Beautiful Home though. We worked on about 10 maybe 16 homes in the Lakeshore Drive Area I was lucky to get to wander around such Homes.

I lived in this home for a couple of years in the mid 70’s. The upstairs had three, one bedroom suites. The northeast suite was mine. Warren O’Connor did not live here as his main residence; however he came and stayed in the Southeast suite when he went to the club’s on weekends. The apartment above the garage was rented to a very nice couple and the garage (coach house) below was huge. The front North salon was designed by Elysse De Wolfe, however the furniture was awarded to the Milwaukee Art Center by the Vogel Family, before they sold The house to O’Connor. The front hallway (entry way) was beautiful, with a grand stairway to the upper level. Their was a faux wall area that was actually a secret door to the kitchen. The dinning room was huge. The walls were carved French woodwork stained green. Warren featured many fund raisers at this home for charities. He also hosted many Gay Parties which included his much anticipated Christmas Parties. I had a number of great gay parties myself. It was a beautiful home including the Kolnick Iron front and rear gates. The lower level had a pool room and a small seating area with a bar (no theater) . The house was sold and we moved on to the Paula Uhilien home at 3319 N. Lake Drive, where I lived for 3 years. I now live in Scottsdale Arizona.
