Through the years with Milwaukee Public Theatre

By - Sep 29th, 2011 04:00 am

The Milwaukee Public Theatre has been in existence since 1974 and Barbara Leigh has been there since the beginning. Leigh co-founded it as Friends Mime Theatre along with Mike Moynihan. Barbara and I discussed the many changes that have taken place through the years, from humble beginnings to the many different avenues the theatre has explored over the years.

Milwaukee Public Theatre recently moved into the Grand Avenue Mall, and created the 2011 All-City People’s Parade as part of this year’s Labor Day Parade. Leigh and company are always busy taking various acts all over Wisconsin. Currently, they are putting on a play called “From the Start, Consider the Finish” at ten locations around the state. The play will visit Milwaukee on Oct. 11 at Engelmann Hall at UW-Milwaukee and on Oct. 18 at the Alumni Center of the Medical College of Wisconsin. See the full list of programs here.
