Party with a purpose

Carnival Milwaukee

By - Mar 7th, 2011 10:23 am

Conga rhythms, Caribbean delicacies and mambo abounded at Saturday’s Carnival Milwaukee celebration, hosted by the Urban Economic Development Association. The annual fundraiser supports the UEDA’s activities, geared toward housing and economic development initiatives in the city of Milwaukee in an effort to increase home ownership and stem foreclosures.

The event was just one of the many Carnival celebrations taking place all over the world, this one featuring music from Congolese musician Ricardo Lemvo & Makina Loca, international cuisine, plus plenty of dancing. Photo intern Nickolas Nickolic was there to capture the evening’s colorful festivities.
