Holiday Tales, pt. 2: Blitzen the talking reindeer

By - Dec 2nd, 2010 04:00 am

Gather ’round the (electric) fireplace for another great Holiday Tale from ThirdCoast Digest. This week  Jonathan West –Managing Director of the Sunset Playhouse and self-proclaimed drama nerd — recalls the Christmases of his youth — specifically the year he felt he’d landed the role of a lifetime : a talking reindeer in the local mall’s Christmas Village.

“Now in my life as a high school thespian, I had turned some heads as a guy carrying a board across a stage, a fat kid dancing in a gold spandex suit and by doing my fatally flawed Bob Hope impersonation,” says West.

“But never before had my words caused people to leap, cringe and stagger…I just just tasted power, and nothing — not even my five free Cokes at the mall food court, would ever taste sweeter.”
