Anjl Rodee of the Whiskey Belles

By - Apr 23rd, 2010 01:23 pm

Anjl Rodee (pronounced “Angel” just in case you were wondering), accordionist and bass player for Milwaukee’s all-female ‘vintage country’ trio the Whiskey Belles, didn’t set out to play like Hank Williams or Lefty Frizzell — it just sort of happened. After joking about creating “the best band that doesn’t exist” for years, she decided to give it a shot and has been playing shows around town ever since. Tonight, you can catch the trio at the Harley-Davidson museum for the Guitars for Vets benefit.

To wrap up the Milwaukee music series, Mark talks to Anjl about classic country music, the origins of the accordion and how to avoid indecent exposure at Sturgis.
