Fans of Les Paul will have the opportunity to pay their respects to the legendary musician and inventor, who passed away last week at age 94, tomorrow when Discovery World hosts a memorial and viewing in his honor from 10 am to 2 pm.

Paul last performed in the Milwaukee area last summer when he attended the opening of the “Les Paul’s House of Sound” exhibit at Discovery World.

Paul will “lie in repose” in a closed casket in the Discovery World Promenade on Friday.

According to a statement by Discovery World, visitors will be able to post their remembrances of Les Paul and thoughts for the family. In addition, the “Les Paul’s House of Sound” exhibit will be free and open to the public during the service.

Discovery World will also show Les Paul’s final Wisconsin concert in 2008 from The Pabst Theater as part of the tribute.

Discovery World’s doors will open at 9 a.m. on Friday. Discovery World is located at 500 N. Harbor Dr. in Milwaukee.

The visitation and tribute at Discovery World will be held prior to a private family service at the Prairie Home Cemetery in Waukesha.

In lieu of flowers or other memorials, well wishers are encouraged to make contributions to the Les Paul Foundation located at 236 W. 30th St., 7th floor, New York, N.Y., 10001.

Here, here and here are a few other tributes to the legend of Les Paul.
