Mayor Dave launches Madison’s “Recovery and Reinvestment” website
Here’s a chance for Madison residents and other interested parties to see what the Capitol City’s brain trust has in store for those forthcoming American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (PORKULUS) dollars.
Mayor Dave has launched a new website so you can track those ARRA dollars, as they, in Mayor Dave’s words, “create jobs and stimulate the local economy.” Here’s a few highlights:
– Madison Metro wants $65,000.00 of that funding to purchase five (5) electronic display signs for transit bus shelters.
– The City of Madison Parks Division wants $100,000.00 porkulus dollars to facilitate a “complete street and park tree inventory for creating a master plan of the urban forest as well as preparing for invasive pests such as emerald ash borer and Asian Longhorned beetle.”
– The Madison Public Health Department proposes to spend $555,478.00 of the contents of its dump truck full o’ federal cash on “adult vaccines and enhanced vaccination programming,” as well as $272,105.00 for expansion of its “Well Woman” screening and diagnostic program.
– The Madison Fire Department is hoping to get its hands on $60,000.00 “recovery” dollars to facilitate a study, focused on “determining whether we are safer, to what degree are we safer, and the effect of our collective efforts on community safety.”
Be safe, folks. Drive safely. Safe travels. He’s rounding third, headed for home.. and he’s safe! I think it’s safe to say: Safety is a good thing. Let’s do a study to see how safe we are.
Thanks for the transparency, Mayor Dave. Keep up the good work.
