The Ghazi Company’s EpiCentre Project Involved in Legal Fight

By - Jul 7th, 2008 11:44 am

The Ghazi Company’s proposed Catalyst project in downtown Milwaukee has been one of the most talked about projects in recent years but issues with The Ghazi Company’s EpiCentre project in Charlotte have raised new concerns over the fate of Catalyst. On June 6th Flaherty & Collins Properties , the developer of 210 Trade which was to be the residential portion of the EpiCentre project, entered a $70 million lawsuit against The Ghazi Company and just days latter The Ghazi Company filed a $92 million counter suit against Flaherty & Collins Properties. The dispute revolves around how the ownership of the project is to be shared between the various property owners and although the retail component of EpiCentre has opened, the proposed Aloft hotel is still under construction, and the nightlife component has been going strong, the work at 210 Trade has been stopped due to these issues. The impact of these lawsuits is still unknown and may be resolved but clearly this could tie up The Ghazi Company’s efforts and potentially derail their proposed Catalyst project in Milwaukee.
